Canadian International Farm Show 2013

The 2013 Canadian International Farm Show Delivers a Qualified Audience

Mississauga, Ontario

The 27th Annual Canadian International Farm Show wrapped up after showcasing the leaders of the thriving Canadian AG industry at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, February 5-7, 2013.

The effect of soaring crop prices still have farmers walking with some extra bounce in their step and exhibitors at the 2013 Canadian International Farm Show were happy to see it.  The audience was also happy to see the return of certain brands in 2013.

Producers from all facets of the farming industry came through the doors and they were in a buying mood. Many solid leads were gathered by exhibitors, which will bode well for boosting sales in 2013. Several international visitors also arrived to the event and were very pleased with the equipment on display at the show.

Day 2 of the Farm Show was jam-packed, with visitor numbers way up. The show also welcomed visitors from our door-to-door motorcoach program. We thank the organizers of this program for assisting in delivering a qualified audience directly to the show.

With a major winter storm forecast for the final day of the event, Show Management was pleasantly surprised with the visitors that came to take in the final day.  Crowds were quite steady until the early afternoon.  When all was said and done, the event welcomed over 18,500 visitors during this edition.

The educational program offered a great variety with topics including Farm Level Bio-security, the Manure Forum and tips on how to increase farming business with social media.

The exhibitor reception on the opening evening was well attended, as the awards for the Producer of the Year were handed out. These awards were presented to Roger Harley and Family of Harley Farms, Nathan Streef of Streef Produce and Amy Darroch of Darroch Farm. Exhibitors commented on these high caliber winners and we look forward to more Ontario Ag innovation in 2014.

Congratulations to Shawn Bierworth of Cobourg, Ontario!!! He was the winner of the door prize – a Cub Cadet lawn mower!

Planning and preparations for the next edition of show are already well underway!  Show Management is actively gathering feedback to ensure the event delivers what our customers want and have come to expect from a show of this caliber.  Surveys are currently being finalized to direct us where to focus to build a better event, and many ideas were received pre-show and onsite that we will be incorporating for 2014.  We also have a brand new theme in the works, which we will be announcing at a future date.  Next year’s audience can anticipate even more exciting new features and content for the 28th annual Canadian International Farm Show!
