Fall Ideal Home Show 2014
Halifax, NS – Atlantic Canada’s only fall renovation showcase, the Nova Scotia Fall Ideal Home Show, took over Exhibition Park the weekend of October 3-5, 2014.
This year’s edition of the home show – the largest in the region in terms of content and floor space – offered visitors a host of information on winter preparedness with its special Ideal Home Heating Section. Show visitors flocked to seminars and exhibits featuring products and services like generators, siding, windows and doors, insulation, snow blowers, fireplaces, heat pumps and fuel.
“People don’t necessarily like to think about winter this time of year,” said Show Manager Bev Campbell. “But it’s a great time to do renovations and think about how they plan to heat their home during the colder months. We wanted to give visitors lots of information and they really took it all in – the seminar that we offered on heat pumps, for example, was wildly popular.”
“The show offered us the chance to speak with so many homeowners in one place,” said exhibitor Ian Henman with Sunshine Renewable Energy. “We were able to educate homeowners who aren't familiar with heat pumps and other energy efficiency upgrades as well as explain how we differ from our competition. All while being able to setup appointment times right on the spot! We love helping people discover how they can save with a heat pump, electric thermal storage unit and other upgrades. It's a great show for vendors and homeowners alike and we’re already looking forward to the Spring Ideal Home Show!”
“The Fall Ideal Home Show provided us a great venue to showcase our company’s services and unique product line to new and existing customers,” said exhibitor Corey Mosher with Ridgeback Basement Systems.
The 2014 edition of the show also featured an “Everything to do with Wood” section with handcrafted wood furniture and products, a selection of exotic woods, information on home heating with wood, and demos and live wood sculpture. This was a new section of the Fall Ideal Home Show, and exhibitors were pleased to have a setting specifically focused on wood-based products and services.
“It was a good show; we had a great time,” said Dan McDonald with Musquodoboit Valley Resource Supply. “We found that it was really effective to have the wood section in a separate area so people realized it was something different. They were interested to see what it was all about and it also helped to draw a more diverse crowd.”
Visitors also enjoyed the Scouts Canada Kids’ Corner; the Nova Scotia Electronic Products Recycling Association electronics recycling drop-off; and the Nova Scotia SPCA pet adoption.
Congratulations to the winners of our door prizes: Paul Graham who won a crisp $100 bill; and Judy Fowler, Donna Smettzer and Matt Casey, who each won a $500 White Point gift certificate courtesy of C100.
