Motorcycle & Powersport Atlantic 2016
Halifax, NS – The powersports industry is alive and well in Nova Scotia, if attendance at the 2016 edition of Motorcycle and Powersport Atlantic is any indication.
Held at the newly rebranded Halifax Exhibition Centre (formerly Exhibition Park) earlier this month, this was the third edition of the event and the largest yet. Attendance numbers were up close to 30% on Friday and more than 40% on Sunday over last year’s numbers. Strong interest drove bikers to the event on the Saturday; even with inclement weather, visitors came to the show from as far away as Bridgewater, the Valley and New Brunswick.
“The show was very successful and numbers were well up over last year,” said Scott Sprague, Show Manager. “Throughout the weekend, dealers reported serious visitors with buying on their minds. This proved to be a true buying show and business was brisk all three days, not only for bikes but also for apparel and riding gear.”
Billed as an all-encompassing powersports event, Motorcycle and Powersport Atlantic included industry suppliers, dealers, manufacturers, distributors, clubs, rallies and associations, custom builders, education and safety, destinations, vintage, competition and sport bike displays, and everything to do with the motorcycle and powersport lifestyle.
Features for this year’s show included the Honda Junior Red Riders, Halifax-based street bike stunt group Stunt 902, the Bike Show Live! stage series, and Women on Wheels Sunday, a celebration of women who ride with a giveaway swag bag for the first 200 women who attended on Sunday morning.
Show exhibitors benefitted from the event’s strong turn out and were very pleased with the sales and leads that came out of the weekend.
“My entire team here at Privateers HD attended show either working or to just walk around,” said Dale Williams, Privateers Harley-Davidson. “Everyone was completely impressed with the show and commented on the ‘good vibe’ and feeling of the event. Since the show I have had a great deal of positive feedback from my customers also. I feel Halifax is in a strong position to be the premiere show in Atlantic Canada.”
