About the BC Trucking Association
The British Columbia Trucking Association (BCTA) is the recognized voice of the commercial motor carrier industry in BC. Founded in 1913, BCTA has effectively represented its members on all matters affecting the commercial motor carrier industry for close to 100 years.
BCTA members include trucking companies hauling every conceivable type of freight requiring highway transportation, including manufactured goods, dry and liquid bulk products, forest products, household goods and general freight. BCTA also represents many waste management companies, ready-mixed concrete companies, container haulers, most charter and scheduled motor coach companies in BC, and a number of courier companies. Some of our members are among Canada's largest trucking companies, but the majority are small to medium-sized, BC-based and often family-owned enterprises. BCTA also has associate members that provide goods and services to the trucking industry.
BCTA represents about 1,200 companies. BCTA motor carrier members operate approximately 13,000 to 14,000 vehicles in BC, employ about 26,000 people, and generate over $2 billion in revenue in the province annually. BCTA is affiliated with similarly constituted trucking associations in the other Canadian provinces and with the Canadian Trucking Alliance, which represents the industry nationally in Ottawa.
