For Immediate Release
Charlottetown, PE- The International Potato Technology Expo returns to the Charlottetown Civic Centre February 26-27, 2010. This popular event has been running in Charlottetown every two years since 1992. Over the years, this has become a must-attend industry event for potato farmers from across the Island, while attracting visitors from as far away as Manitoba and the United States.
“We are excited to launch an expanded conference program this year to compliment the growth of the show. The quality and relevancy of this year’s conference sessions is second to none and we are pleased with the direction and growth that the International Potato Technology Expo is taking,” says Show Manager, Rob Etmanski.
The Expo has evolved from a trade show and short seminar session to a three-day extravaganza, complete with comedic entertainment presented by renowned comedian Derek Edwards at the pre-conference banquet, an evening of gaming at the Red Shores Racetrack & Casino and thought provoking conference sessions that will be spread out over the duration of the event.
The keynote speaker at the conference luncheon for 2010 will be Jolene Brown. She will have you laughing while you learn! She’s fun and funny, long-legged but not long-winded, and so insightful audiences accuse her of sleeping under their beds. The positive impact of her work is well documented by the accolades of those who have had her speak for their events. Coming from West Branch, Iowa this real “Farmer Brown” uniquely understands the hearts, homes and the business of agriculture. Through humor, hope, and helpful ideas her messages are guaranteed to bring ideas to put into action and something good to talk about in the days to come.
Other topics include: Your Health and the Pesticide Connection, Wireworm Survey and Research from PEI, Potato Scab Effects and Impacts on Potato Production, Soybeans in the potato rotation and so much more.
This year’s show boasts over 100 booths filling the entire Charlottetown Civic Centre and will encompass everything from seed to soil to growing to harvesting. You will see the latest from the manufacturers of harvesters, sprayers, pilers, cultivators, storage and climatization technology, tractors, bagging machinery, seed cutters, the very latest in plant genetics, research and the list goes on….
This is just a brief glimpse of what will be on display. For a full list of exhibitors and complete schedule of events and conference sessions, visit us online at www.potatoexpo.ca.
