Saint John, NB - Owners of the Canadian International Farm Show (CIFS) are pleased to announce the presentation of the show’s Youth in Agriculture Bursaries.

We would like to congratulate Ashley Knapton and Henry Reuben Dejong for each receiving a $2500.00 educational bursary presented by the Canadian International Farm Show; Canada’s Largest Indoor Farm Show.

Ashley Knapton is from Almonte, ON and is in her first year of a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture program, majoring in Honours at the University of Guelph.
Ashley mentions that some of her interests are hockey and cows and she has been an active participant of the Lanyark County’s 4-H Program. Her goal is to work in the bovine genetics field and to return home to her parent’s dairy farm in Lanark County.

Henry Reuben DeJong is from Baltimore, ON and is enrolled at the University of Guelph Kemptville College in the Agriculture program. Henry is no stranger to the agricultural sector. At the age of 14 he was the manager of a 1500 hog finishing operation with a responsibility of over 1000 acres. He also travelled down-under to Australia and spent 3 months working and experiencing agriculture on the other side of the world.

Management of the Canadian International Farm Show could not be more pleased with these two high caliber recipients and are honoured to give back to the AG community and the future of the industry in the form of these educational bursaries. We wish Henry and Ashley success in their future endeavors.

The bursaries were awarded at the Junior Farmers’ Association of Ontario’s (JFAO) Annual Banquet. The CIFS bursaries recognize the importance of youth in agriculture and support young people in their educational pursuits. “Both recipients were very excited and grateful when they learned they had been chosen for the CIFS bursary”, said Angie Giles Exec. Director of Programs for JFAO. “The Junior Farmers' Association of Ontario is pleased to assist the CIFS by administering the application and selection process of these bursaries,” explained Giles.

Master Promotions would like to thank the Junior Farmers’ Association of Ontario for their assistance in administering and organizing a selection committee to determine the winners of these awards.

We are now looking forward to the 2011 edition and the 25th anniversary of the Canadian International Farm Show! Hope to see you February 8-10, 2011 at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. For all the latest updates please visit www.canadianfarmshow.ca
